["Cirno, didn't Flandre give you something? I think it belongs to someone else, to someone in front of us."]
[Don’t just stand there; do something! Show Adam the picture and tell him Nathaniel/John is down there as well. Just like last time but without the problem of Cirno being dead.]
You’ve seen this happen before. Adam and Cirno talk for a little while, Cirno reels in disbelief, and Adam begins to strike. It’s happening just like last time. But you’ve got the trump card: you know what it will take to make Adam come to his senses and possibly even disobey Flandre. That picture Cirno holds, the one with Adam, “Isaac”, “John”, and the unknown dragon-man,
that is the thing that will save Cirno’s life. And this time, you’re here early enough to do this right.
“Cirno, that picture,” you whisper to her, probably loud enough for Adam to hear, but it doesn’t matter now. “Didn’t Flandre give you a picture? A picture with four people on it? I think it really belongs to someone else, someone who’s right in front of us.”
Cirno’s reply is nervous, and she’s still focusing on Adam rather than you. “That, that one? Th-the one with the Mis-ster Eye-zac?” She draws the picture into view with a trembling hand, Adam’s cold eyes and steel hand still prepared for the impending slaughter. Inching closer to Adam, she holds the picture out to him like it’s a poisonous snake in her hands. “Does this…Does this belog to you, Mister Adam sir?”
Adam looks very confused, and tweezes the photograph from her with two iron fingers. There’s barely enough light for you to even see that there’s a picture at all, but you’ve seen through Adam’s eyes; you know that he can see just fine in the dark.
“T-This…This is, this is…” Adam doesn’t even know what to say; he’s just holding the picture, dumbstruck. “F-Flandre gave, gave you this Cirno?”
She nods her head seriously. “Uh huh. She said that cool man, that Isaac guy on the right, he’d be the one to make all my dreams come true. I guess you kinda look like the kid in that picture too. Do you…know, Mister Isaac?”
Adam slumps to the ground, shaking his head in either denial or disbelief. “I…I don’t, I know, but I…when did, how…h-h-how? I can’t…I don’t…But I want to…why did I…why do you?”
You take this opportunity to “hit his weak point” so to speak, and walk up beside Cirno. “Adam, Nathaniel…no,
John is here. You remember John? He’s in this mansion, in these caverns, trapped in a metal room somewhere. If we wait too long, I think he might try to kill himself or something. We have to save him. Can you…will you please help us?”
He looks at you, and you think he has tears in his eyes. “John…here? In the mansion? Playing the game? No…no, no, no…nononononogetoutofmyhead! GET OUT OF MY HEAD! FLANDRE! GET YOUR LUNATIC RED EYES OUT OF MY HEEAAAAAAD!!” He thrashes about like mad, slashing at the air and punching the wall in an insane rage; just like that time back in Room 101. You’re already prepared for this, and have stepped back to give him a wide berth. If this happens like last time, he’ll be running off like a madman within seconds; you’d rather that not happen. In a mood like this, there no telling what he’ll do if he’s not controlled. He didn’t end up killing you last time, but the circumstances have changed; who’s to say he won’t this time, or Cirno again, or even Nathaniel/John? You need to keep him here. Try to calm him down.
“Adam, Adam, it’s okay!” you reaffirm in a loud voice, trying to get over the din of his slashing and crashing. “Calm down, you won’t be helping anyone unless you
calm down!” You thankfully remember what Adam told you the first time you met, and remind him of his words. “Flandre…remember how she told you to control your feelings? Control your emotions? Get a hold of yourself, just take it easy!”
“Flandre…Flandre!” The name seems to have sparked something within him, and he’s no longer moving with wild abandon. He kneels on the ground, clutching his head, speaking to…himself, maybe? It almost sounds like he’s talking to Flandre.
“Get out of my head…I’m not you, you’re not me…stop it! Sss-ththtop it! John…why’d you have…I, I know, but why? I, I remember…Equitath…so that’th why. You want…no, not enough! Th-s-th-stop it. You’re sick, I know, I know you know, but I can…I can…wish? With for what? Pleath, pleath, I have to thave…John…Isaac…who, who am I? My…name. You, thole, my name! Give it back! GIVE IT BAAAACK!!”
He rips his plated claws across the ground, digging grooves into the hard-packed dirt. It’s like he’s possessed by a demon that he’s trying to exorcize by himself. He writhes on the ground, shivering madly. “Say my name,” he chants to himself, then to you and Cirno. “Thay my name…Thay my name…tell me my name.”
“Adam,” you speak firmly. He shakes his head and continues squirming. No?
“My name…thay, thay my…my name. My…mmmm-m-m-my, my...mine…nnn-name…” This keeps up for what must be minutes, and no matter how many times you say “Adam”, “Scarlet”, “John”, “Nathaniel”, “Isaac”, or anything else you can think of, you never seem to find “my name”. Eventually he rolls onto his hands and knees and looks at you, heaving and shivering, but definitely much more calm.
“Where…where ith John?” he implores to you desperately. “Where ith John, where ith…my friend?”
“I don’t know,” you reply, deciding not to use what he said wasn’t “his name” for the time being. “He’s in a small room behind a heavy metal door. It’s somewhere in these tunnels. That’s all I know.”
“I have to…to find John. Have, have to thave him. Wandering, wandering wanderer. Have to thave him.”
Looks like you’ve got no choice but to look for “John”, which is what you’ve been trying to do anyways. Adam looks stable for the time being, and he’s got his lisp back, but you’re still extremely uncertain about what’s going on with his mind. You pick up your assorted items and weapons, returning them to your person once again. Time to do some exploring, perhaps.
[ ] Let Adam look for “John” alone, while you and Cirno wait right here.
[ ] Let Adam look for “John” by himself, while you and Cirno look for John in another direction.
[ ] Ask Adam to stay with you and Cirno as you all look for “John” as a group.
[ ] Ask Adam to stay with you and Cirno as you rest for a while. Maybe get some answers out of him? (specify discussion points)
[ ] A different plan of attack? (Write-in)

I don’t have much time to talk right now (family outing impeding within minutes), so I will just leave this here for now. Commentary later today.
