We've already gotten on the good sides of the 3 Souls of Dracula (Giant Bat - Remi, Succubus - Koakuma, Red Minotaur - Flandre), all that was left was to except Patchi's offer on learning more about vampires, which was to check out Dracula's Tome.

Well, at least we won't get the end where the dude from the Shrine comes to fulfill his promise and kill us...

You step forward, placing your hand on Remilia's shoulder.
"Its over Remi, let Reimu exterminate it. It's just another troublesome Youkai now."
Remilia nods slowly, her spear fading into nothing as she stands up and steps away from the monster. She turns to you and her arms go around your middle, her head against your chest.
"Remi." You say gently, putting your arms around her. Her dress covered in tears and her hat is long missing. Her face has three deep scratches, slowly healing as she sighs against you. You wipe some of the blood away from her face with your sleeve. The back of her head is a mess of matted hair and blood, but nothing feels broken when you cradle it in your hand.
"How are you feeling?" You ask her.
"Sore." She says, smiling up at you.

"Okay. Here we go." Reimu says, stepping forwards.
"I am shocked and appalled that this party was started and is about to end without me!" A voice comes from the side as Yukari steps into view through a swiftly-opening gap.
Remilia turns to look at her. "Doesn't look like you would have been available anyway." She says.
You have to agree. Yukari is dressed in only a very long purple and white pajama top which reaches so far past her knees it looks like a dress. Her hair is a mess, tangled and squashed against the side of her head. Her eyelids are heavy and she yawns as you look at her.
"Yes, I suppose." She says sleepily.
Reimu rolls her eyes. She bends down and sticks the seal to the creature's forehead.

Reimu just leaps back in time as it swings out with its remaining arm, screeching.
"Oh for-" Reimu says. The monster flips to its feet and grins, the blackened skin around its mouth cracking and bleeding as it does.
Remilia twists away from you and is about to fly at the creature again when a gap opens above it.
A loud clanging noise echoes in your ears as an anchor bounces off the monster's head. Yukari smiles and flutters her eyelashes.
"What would you do without me?" She says.
Reimu sighs and clicks her fingers.
The monster erupts into a tightly contained pillar of flame, lasting only a second. A black mess of flesh is left behind, smoking softly on the floor.
Remilia sighs and runs her hand through her hair. "I guess it's over."

"Not quite yet." You say, stepping over to Remilia.
"What" She asks, suddenly surprised.
"What colour are my eyes?" You ask.
Remilia frowns, staring at you. "Same colour as always, why?" She asks.
"Because it didn't work." Mima's voice comes from behind you.
"What hole did you crawl out of?" Reimu asks.
"Never mind that right now, Miko!" Mima says, floating over to you and Remilia. "It didn't work because you rejected the help I gave you!"
"What didn't ... what are you talking about?" Remilia asks, looking suspiciously at Mima.
"She tried to turn me into a Youkai." You say.
"What?!" Remilia glares at Mima. You hear Yukari giggle. "When?" Remilia demands.
"During the fight, she was in my head for a moment." Mima folds her arms and rolls her eyes as you explain the rest to Remilia, skimming over the details. You can tell her it all later.
"You ...bitch!" Remilia says to Mima.
Mima gapes. "I saved his life didn't I? Even if it didn't work how it was supposed to."
Remilia points at Mima. "You better be leaving, ghost."
"Wait a second." You say. "What have you done to me?" You ask.
"I think you grew a Youkai suit of armour." Mima shrugs. "Don't ask me, you rejected it." Mima waves you away. "I'm going, you people are so damn glum. Be happy! You won!"
She vanishes with a puff of blue smoke.

"Well." Remilia says. "Well ... bitch."
You put your arm around Remilia's shoulders. "She's gone, I owe her nothing, don't worry."
Remilia nods.
You look up, seeing Eirin and Youmu come out of the front door. Youmu has one arm over Eirin's shoulder.
"Are you okay?" You ask her when they reach you.
Youmu nods, weakly.
"She needs lots of rest." Eirin says.
"I have one more thing to ask of you." Remilia says to Youmu. "Are you up to it?"
Youmu stays silent for a moment, then nods. "Okay. What is it?"
Remilia points to you.
"Does he look different to you?"
Youmu stares at you, eyes widening.
"He's no different, but where did all the armour come from?"
"You can see it? That means it must be a ghost. Is it connected to him?"
Youmu shakes her head.
"Could he take it off?"
"Probably." Youmu coughs. "You may want to get my Mistress to help."

Remilia turns back to you. "First thing tomorrow morning."

Remilia steps over and gives you a hug.
Behind her, you see Yukari open a gap, the remains of the monster falling through.

You open your eyes and blink in the waning sunlight. If the curtains are already open, it must mean Sakuya has already been in this morning.

Afternoon, whatever. What time is it anyway? Time for breakfast, but time for some Remilia first.

Turning your head away from the window, you stretch your limbs out in the bed. You've gained some new aches overnight, Remilia really is very demanding. Better pay her back for that later. But when you reach your hand out, you find only the empty pillow next to you.
"Remi?" You sit up in bed, dumbly feeling around in the bed for her.
"Where-" You spot a note on her bedside table. Grinning to yourself, you reach over and pick it up. She's taken to surprising you like this, going off and doing things she hasn't done in years because you mentioned something to her, then rushing back and grabbing you for the express purpose of having you join in.

You lie back in bed, thinking of the things you were going to do today. If Remilia has something else planned ... oh well. Watching Flandre's danmaku can wait a few hours, she'll just show Meiling in the meantime. Suika promised to come take you up on that drinking game and Youmu still wants to take a look at your sword. Actually, missing that last one might be a good idea, Yuyuko has proved rather creepy to be around since you met her, running her hands over your armour. Not every day you meet a ghost Princess and she helps you get undressed. You sigh, feeling sorry for Koakuma. She seemed a little lonely with Patchouli off doing something with Alice. Right, if you only get one thing done today, you have to go play with Koakuma.

Or just lie here, you think as quite an impressive sight enters the room.
"Morning!" Remilia says.
"Good morning." You say back, sitting up, unsure if you should be frowning or grinning.
Remilia has the end of a leash in one hand. The other end is connected to a collar around Sakuya's neck. She has a pair of fake dog ears poking out of her hair and a very embarrassed expression. She is carrying a plate of bacon and eggs.
"Morning Sakuya." You say, almost managing to keep the laugher out of your voice.
Remilia steps over to the table and pats her leg at Sakuya. "Here girl, good dog."
Sakuya silently obeys and places the plate on the table.
"Your brekfaargh!" Sakuya squeals as Remilia brings a hand down hard on her rump.
"Dogs don't speak." She says, wagging a finger at Sakuya.
Sakuya looks down, turning even redder.
"I said." Remilia's hand hovers behind Sakuya again "Dogs don't speak."

These and any other Scarlet related question can be answered by only one person: Flandre. She knows everything. She has shown us she's not what we think she was: a small loli girl which happens to have awesome powers and an unstable mind. But she's not. She is much, much more.

We need to do her route next. She is a part of Remi route. She's the second half of a whole: the past of one goes along the past of another.

Am I the only one who wants to go straight into Sakuya's route next, or failing that, for it to at least not be the very last one we go for?

With how she's been towards us this for much of this round, and is bound to be in at least one or two of the others (unless her relationship with the lovable gate guard changes, we WILL be clashing with her in Meiling's route) the prospect of her reversal from someone we hate to someone we love makes her route sound like one of the most interesting ones, from a character standpoint. I certainly can't see a similar reversal happening with any of the other characters. Remilia, POSSIBLY, could turn out to be someone we're not entirely fond of if she started treating us like she was treating Sakuya at the end, but can you even imagine the mere possibility of hating Koakuma, Meiling, or Flandre in any way? I think not.

While saving such a big reversal for after all the others have been cleared would be nice, the sheer length of Remi's route alone indicates that it would be a VERY long time before we get to that point. Assuming, of course, we even get that far at all.

As much as I hate to say it, but expecting to be able to get to every single possible route might be rather unrealistic, especially if they're all roughly of the scale that Remi's was. If any route has got to get the axe, I'd much rather it not be the one with possibly the most potential to be different and interesting.

Besides that, Sakuya's route is also bound to have answers for some questions that have been raised in Remi's route, and given the choice between having a few questions raised and getting a lot of them answered or having a lot of questions raised and having few of them answered, I'd much rather take the one that will leave the fewest loose ends as possible.

I don't mind something lighter before we plunge head-first back into the depths of despair, but I think we should keep an attitude that regards these routes much like we should regard our days: treating each one like it was our last, because for all we know it may very well be.

This is a little complicated. You've been on track for the Good End for a long time now. There were two threads running through the Remilia route, one was the monster upstairs, the other was her relationship with Flandre. If you don't put enough effort into repairing the relationship between the sisters, you get the Normal End. Other than that, you could get a couple of horrible Sad Ends, once when you went to talk to Sakuya when she was locked up, another when you pick between Mima and the Sword guy in your head.

Normal End = When Flandre loses her temper with Remilia, saying that she 'did this last time' and the stuff about her brain rotting, if you haven't brought them close enough, Remilia panics. Flandre and Remilia fight, you have the option to help Remilia or stay out of it. If you help, Flandre dies, then Remilia kills herself out of guilt. I know that doesn't sound like it fits in with the story as it was, but you steered so far away from it that things took a completely different tone. I'm glad I didn't have to write it.

You have a window in which to stop her, but if you fail then Remilia never confronts the monster upstairs, fading away in depression. Anon and Flandre grow closer and you live out the rest of your days in the Mansion, a life forever spent hoping Remilia will rouse herself, comforting Flandre when she cries about 'why doesn't sister come out any more?'

Sad End 2 = Mima meant well, but she doesn't know when to stop. If you had accepted her offer then she would have turned you into a Youkai and you would have lost your mind instantly. You win the battle, but everything is a blur. Cue epilogue with Remilia visiting a chained and gagged Anon every day in the tower, trying to coax some semblance of humanity from him, Mima forced to work on reversing what she did. They fail.

Not trying to be a smartass, but I threw out the possibility of us losing our minds following Mima's youkaification (along with a bunch of other things during the story, including using the blood on the letter).

Sakuya was heavy on the fanon. Lots of angry, lots of knives, none of her being an airhead. She will probably stay like this. Although does Dio count as canon or fanon? Either way, it'll be good.

Flandre was something I cooked up myself. WuiG already gave us insane Flandre, so I took a different approach. All her canon stuff is still in there, wrapped in a blanket of fanon ℳℴℯ.

Meiling is pretty much canon, taken to a logical conclusion. All the stuff I added (ie. her room) is just how I see her canon character playing out as normal. But, there will be quite a bit more fanon for her in other routes, but it won't change her core character at all.

Patchouli is canon. I haven't really added much to her character, but may well do so during her route depending on how she feels to write.

Koakuma? Do I even need to tell you? It's mostly my own interpretation, mixed with some of her from doujins.

Worst: Being stuck at work, coming up with ideas and not being able to write them down.

She healed a lot faster than it looked, although she wasn't at full strength. The Fairies did not help her, they would have informed Remilia simply with how worked up they would have got over something like that. I can't tell you why or how Sakuya was healing faster than it looked, because you never found out about that on this route. The grating? Stopping time makes the entire world a non-event, so why would you need strength to lift anything?

Frisca lives in the Mansion with the rest of the Maids, wistfully dreaming of a time she peeked over her shoulder and saw a human male changing. She liked it. In fact she liked it so much she keeps trying to peek on you sometimes, Remilia puts up with it because she can't bring herself to hurt someone who is just admiring you. She knows the Maids would never touch you.

Honestly, the end felt pretty anti-climactic, not nearly enough closure. Remi's haunted by her desire to kill the thing in the attic, so we kill the thing in the attic and...that's it, plot stops, a little vague exposition about everyone living happily ever after, joke scene, THE END. That's hardly the only major problem/issue in the story, yeah?

How is Remi and Flan's relationship doing? Or Remi and Patchy, it was implied that she hadn't spoken to her much lately when she went to ask for her help fighting the monster, but how are things now? Flan yelled at Remi about her "brain rotting" and forgetting things, but what did she forget? How do they deal with Belnonymous's much shorter lifespan, do they try to extend it or just have fun while it lasts? What were the things we fought in the catacombs? Does Remi ever get a taste of Belnonymous's blood (a few drops from a cut, maybe), just for curiosity's sake?

And that's just off the top of my head. Feels like way too many loose ends, too many important things unresolved. I want to see more of how everyone's lives turn out.

It was her fate hax. Obeying her rather than breaking free would have caused problems. For a start you would never have saved Frisca, or had much exchange with Eirin (thus never gaining her as an ally), in that particular part. In the long run it would have ended in a massive argument with Remilia as your 'natural' vampire-hunter nature struggled to throw off the railroading of your fate.

Having got to know Eirin, Belmonymous asked for some stuff on the side and he got it, bottles of bottles of it. Sakuya's method was too complex for him to understand, quite frankly she didn't make a lot of sense when he asked her. Eirin promised it would keep him alive, and at no cost to his humanity. She's true to her word.

The wedding was probably the second biggest party Gensokyo has ever seen, topped only by Suika introducing Flandre to the wonders of alcohol.

As for children? By the time Remilia feels ready to adopt, Gensokyo will have changed beyond recognition. Perhaps that is a story for another time.

You will find out, I promise, though it may not be as dramatic as you think. Other routes will primarily deal with other stuff, but questions left over from this one can be answered by more knowledgeable characters.

Koakuma was outside, waiting for you to fall asleep. When you came outside she was torn between saying hello and fleeing in embarrassment because she was just about to try a sexual illusion on you again.

Honestly, I will fist of the north star it when I can, which means not that often quite yet. For the moment I can probably manage more than one or two updates a day. No, Meiling rescues her and takes her to Eientei. You, Remilia and Flandre return to an eerily quiet Mansion with about two dozen vamp'ed Maids. This makes it easier for Flandre to go into shock (very bad), Remi panics, the monster is lose, not in its room. Koakuma gets wounded and Meiling hates you for not alerting Remilia to what was happening, cue her punching you in the face.

Former: When you kissed her the first time, becoming no longer a curiosity, but a person to her.
Latter: That was a slower process, but she did fight to protect you. When she fought Reimu at the shrine, she risked your life, placing it at a lower priority than Sakuya's, but then she rescued you from the underground.

You could probably coast on several of these for a while if you want to write something, but don't want to start another playthrough yet.

Good idea, this Q&A business. A bit of criticism, if I may - probably the one thing that I really didn't like about this story is how hard it was to find any answers. From the writer's perspective, it's very easy to say "Why didn't you just ASK about XYZ?", but from the reader's view the answer is equally easy: "We'll DIE!" In the case of Patchy and the letter, we actually did ask and die for it, without even finding the answer we were looking for. The SDM is a very lethal place, and often it seems asking questions and playing the game right, so to speak, progressing towards a good end, are mutually exclusive.

Thanks for giving some answers here, and if you could, try to remember this for next time and have more (or more obvious) opportunities for us to satisfy our curiosity in the main story.

Alerting Remilia earlier would have meant getting to Sakuya before she was unconscious, less bitten Maids and an easier time of it for all involved. Even earlier would have resulted in getting back during the fight, helping Sakuya force the monster back into its room and having Remilia chew you out for not telling her about it (as it was in the story, she was far too grateful for you rescuing Sakuya). Seeing as this would have led to a much different dynamic between you and Sakuya, events from that point would have changed a lot, including a whole different battle scene and something completely different happening with Remilia (which I will save for a different path, now that you haven't seen it).

You could have. You survive, getting a boost to a few things (wait and see), but the battle is much harder. You would also have got to see Mima in action as she left the inside of your head to help you against the monster.

It seemed like the monster in the attic had some kind of boss immunity to the stopwatch, and even Remi was too fast for us when using it; is there any chance for Belmonymous to use the stopwatch in a meaningful manner? What about a dual-timestop Star Platinum vs. The World fight against Sakuya?

If we hadn't told Youmu that Sakuya was forgiven, would she have tried busting her out forcefully? If this had happened, would fighting Youmu become a possibility?

I'm assuming the gated entrance in the maze garden and the passageway in the kitchen are connected; how large is this dungeon? I'd like to see more whippan & grindan in the next iteration, but is there any reason to go down there besides the sword and Sakuya's deathtrap? If we want to break this hereditary curse of progressive insanity that grips the Scarlet line in a more permanent manner, do we need to fight the Chaos at heart of the Scarlet Devil Mansion?

Is there any possibility of the SDM being shunted back into the Outside as a consequence of Belmonymous or the other residents' actions?

I noticed Meiling was cool with modern things like the vidya & instant noodles. Is she a former citizen of the PRC? Does she have formal weapons training?

What was the deal with Flandre leaving her Lävatein on her bed while she was talking to Sakuya? Would we have Bad Ended if we had touched it? What was the reason and the consequence of Flan interrogating Sakuya?

'Timestop' is probably less accurate than 'super-time-slow'. Remi was able to move fast enough to negate the effect.

Formal weapons training is unlikely if she was from China. Plus, all of them get modern junk from outside. Patchy had FMA vol 2.

Whatever happened to Mr. Skull? Last mention of him I remember seeing was Belmonymous locking him away in the coat after the concussion or whatever wore off.

Saguya, probably dead when Remilia tore down the wall and massacred his kind. He should suffer a much more painful death since he betrayed us.

I'm guessing that the skull plays no part in the main story. It was probably placed in there for humor since I'm sure most people enjoy seeing Belmonymous go delusional and start talking to inanimate objects. Guessing HY was laughing when he wrote that part.

I have one very big thing bothering me. Since we know some parts of the storyline like how and why Belmonymous got there. Wouldn't that kill a big part of the story like if we went through the same thing and Patchouli asks how we appeared at the Mansion and we reply that Yukari rifted us there? Then finding places like Flandre's room without asking her or knowing what's at the top of the tower. Currently, I'm imagining something very... Awkward.

And since Belmonymous canonically has outside knowledge of the Touhoes, we could just ask Remi to take us there.

And before you go about claiming that this relies on meta-game knowledge, let me say right now that the same goes for your supposition that we lose Eirin as a result.

Anyway, Belmonymous had previous knowledge on what the blood would do locked away in his mind, that only revealed itself at the last moment. There are many possible reasons for him to realized it earlier than he did the first time around.

She was pretty shocked about what Sakuya did. She would have pleaded for a while, then offered herself, then tried to break Sakuya out, but been seriously guilty about it. Getting in her way made her run off in shame, not try to fight.

Because she was going to fight the monster, she had left it on her bed. Like a forgetful child, she had got it out and then gone to talk to Sakuya. If you touched it, no bad end. You would have fucked with it's charged-up state, absorbing magic. Flandre would not have fought the monster, but something else would have happened, which I can't tell you. Flandre interrogated Sakuya because she wanted to know everything about the monster, simple as that.

You were resisting the urge based on being faithful to Remilia. Sakuya wasn't resisting it very well because she felt so guilty about betraying Remilia, her instinct was complete obedience. Yours was to keep your will your own.

The routes are all based around the characters, but some routes are possible to play without romantic attachment. I take it nobody really wants to do this though? Also some routes are much longer than a week.

Firstly, meta-game knowledge would be disallowed. More importantly, most of the stuff from the Remilia route won't come up again, certainly not repeat events, so there's little chance of this happening.

Flandre is half-way between little-sister figure and the 'thing' you glimpse on occasion, but Remilia is fine about you and her.
Sakuya drops back into her role as Maid, treating you as what you are: her Mistress's beloved. There is more than a smidgeon of tension between you though, of both violence and sexual attraction. Remilia makes a number of things clear to Sakuya, hands off, etc. Sakuya insists she would never touch you. You do drink with her sometimes though, but nothing beyond some mild joking happens. She tries to show you how to throw a knife properly, but you just manage to damage some plants in the garden. You and her develop a grudging respect, being united by your mutual love for Remi.
Koakuma is a little more complicated. She's a succubus, you're now a regular male resident of the Mansion. She wants you, a lot. Remilia is blissfully unaware, as however tempting Koakuma might be, love for Remilia wins you over every time. Whenever you go to see Koakuma, you make sure that you're not sexually pent-up even the slightest, just in case. Despite her constant barrage of flirting and teasing, Koakuma never seriously tries anything. Well, anything much.

I don't think it'll be nice to be stuck with a whip forever for the rest of the routes. Somewhat, I have the feeling you'll try to put in new weapons to replace the whip but I'm sure you'll never tell us what the weapons are until we reach that point in time.

Also, items. Will they be randomized? Or do we start with the standard set of items again? Not talking about key items like the whip but items like the keys and cards.

If my memory serves me right, the skull said something "take it from old Murray" so I'm guessing his name's Murray. If we go the Perfect Butler route, I wouldn't mind seeing microfilament wire, a la Hellsing's Walter. I guess something like that would have to be a gift from Eirin, maybe for keeping watch over Sakuya (which assumes the Lunarian hypothesis).

We also started with a knife and knuckle dusters that we never used. Sakuya could teach us how to use the knife, while the knuckle dusters would fall under Meiling.

Meiling might have some Cold War military surplus stocked away somewhere.

Magic is a possibility on the Koakuma and Patchouli routes, given the amount of time you'll have in the library. Not necessarily even casting spells, but enchanting your weapons with elemental magic.

Flan is crazy enough that she might even let you play with Lävatein. And as she seems to have the oldest intact memories of the castle, maybe there's some other Norse-derived mythological weapon tucked away in the castle: Mjolnir, Thor's returning hammer; Gram/Balmung, Sigurd's dragon-slayer (would be ironic if it were used to fight "Smaug"); Tyrfing, the cursed sword; Dáinsleif, a wounding sword sword; Gambantein, Freyr's wand-sword; Mistilteinn, sword of the undead witch-king Þráinn; Skofnung, an unbreakable, wounding sword; Svalinn, the shield that protects the earth from the sun...

And the fairies? Maybe they can teach you to danmaku.

Interestingly, most of these weapons have been featured in Castlevania games. Gram/Balmung, Mjolnir, Dainslef, Mystletain (Holy element), Sword of Helge, Burtgang (increases defense), and Tyrfing (Dark element) are all in Castlevania games.

At one point I think Patchy or someone shouted to Flan that she couldn't destroy the BBEG during the battle, why not?

What would of happened if we had gone to Flandre's side instead of joining the fray with the others?

How will the relationship of other characters effect other playthroughs, for example how will Flan and Remi's relationship change or interact with the Koakuma's Route?

How far did the catacombs stretch and what else was there to find?

Was there a chance to escape without help that time?


Add in other standard questions such as: Why the knuckle dusters, the pens, the photo with the writing on the back, the keys and the playing cards.
